You don't need to be an ISO 9000 company, but it may be worthwhile. ISO 9000 is a collection of quality management guidelines created by the International Organization for Standardization, aka ISO. You get certified by adopting the standards (not easy!) and having a third party review your quality management program. Some companies won't do business with you unles you have an ISO 9000 seal of approval.
