What is a wire crimper?

Well, d'uh.  A wire crimper is a tool for crimping wire!  But what does that mean, exactly?  A wire crimper makes a firm connection between individual strands of wire or cable.  It does this by compressing, indenting, and twisting wires around one another.  A crimper joins wires without the need for solder or heat, and is known as cold-working the wire.
